  • Well I for one will be referring to the OG Moon Watch as a homage from now on.

    :oP

  • Surely its more down to the movement layout than the aesthetic design?

From memory I think Universal made their movement for the Compax, Zenith made a variation for their own watches and then Lemania and Omega took the best bits of the UG and Zenith to create the 321 movement that was used in the early speedmasters.

All of those movements, while having some big differences to each other, maintained the same sub dial layout...not sure there is much you can do design wise with the 9, 6 3 sub dial layout...they're all going to look pretty similar.

  • I saw that on OF . 18 grand but it is amazing.

  • Wow. So I get that the layout is determined by the movement but the tachy scale, lyre lugs, even the pushers. Ha, the speedy is a homage. Love the UG design overall though, the handset, the type. Really nice. Thanks for the info.

  • Fuck that first tricompax is beautiful.

  • Cheeky ad. Anyone interested in this?

  • Entirely contrary to what I've previously said but I fancy trying a rubber strap with matching curved end with my Black Bay. Ideally I'd want one that works with the deployment clasp but the only one I can find that does that is the rather expensive RubberB one, any other options I'm missing.

Most of them don't seem that easy to get in the UK other than the Crafter Blue one (which has ugly buckle/keeper). Any suggestions on which others to look at?

  • Guess you havent seen this one.. Rodania geometer..

  • This is perfect.

  • rather expensive RubberB one

I tried a few on my Black Bay and the RubberB is hands down the best. Doesn't come with a buckle though...you have to fit your own. The Tudor deployant fits it. I know it is expensive and maybe its not worth quite as much as they charge but I still think its worth it if you want the best quality and fitting strap for your Tudor.

  • In asnwer to your actual question, Vanguard straps are supposed to be good Tudor compatible fitted straps. Alsal stock them. Have never tried one out though.

    About £100 each.

  • I have an issue with one of my Helson "spring" bars (hex bar?)
It unscrews, but doesn't come out.
    It is slightly bent.
    The small screw comes out.

Not an issue ATM as I'm using NATO straps, but if I want to go back to the rubber strap, I'm stuffed.

Can I get replacement bars in the UK or shall I contact Helson?
    Thanks

  • I got one from aliexpress. It’s really good quality but was branded rubber b when it arrived so it’s actually a fake (this wasn’t mentioned in the ad)

  • I’ve got the Vanguard strap mentioned by @Stonehedge on my BBB (see previous page and below quick shots so you can the side and buckle). Most comfy of my rubber straps and does take a Tudor deployment clasp. Only downside is that the strap is sized for buckle use so the tang(?) end of the strap is a bit longer than on the OEM strap designed for deployment use only. Means that the deployment clasp / strap can sit slightly uncomfortably depending on your wrist shape. I found the clasp was more comfy if you wore the strap the wrong way round (Ie tail end pointing out) but then the watch sat a bit funny, so in the end I put the Tang back on and it’s been great. Much cheaper than a Rubber B, which is the only other game in town if you want a rubber strap that takes the oem deployment clasp.

  • No. New to me.

Quite like the arrow detail on the sub dials. 😎

  • Cheers all. I'll drop Alsal an email re: the Vanguard and have a look at AliExpress. I don't want to spend too much on it as I'm not sure if it will be something I get on with.

  • One thing I will say about the RubberB is that it is by far the most comfortable strap I've ever worn.

It's possible to say something is excellent but not worth the price but still encourage you to buy it, right? I mean, it's too expensive but it really is the best available.

Isn't that the whole of this thread (apart from the Casios)?

  • (apart from the Casios)

Apart from the £500 metal bodied ones...

  • Wearing my steel gshock right now and I stand by my too expensive but you should still buy one recommendation 😛

  • As someone in this thread kindly pointed out to me a while back, it's deployant instead of deployment clasp.

  • So it is. I must have read that and unconsciously changed it many times.

  • Have a look at Scurfa, he also have a Tudor which look great with his strap.

Very impressed with his strap too, slim, comfortable and look great on the lug.
