  • Not being overly serious ( as ever ), but for a general purpose ATB I'd be looking at 2.4" minimum. Lots of good tyres now available in 2.6", though there are of course compromises ( such as chainring clearance ) the bigger you get

  • I was wondering if there were things about the current design that would feel dated within a couple of years, clearance might be the biggest factor. It's so hard to predict what will be enough, the tyre you see in the renders above has pretty hefty shoulder knobs so it feels like a pretty safe bet but it's hard to be sure. I'm using a model of a tyre I've found online, I've scaled it to be a 2.4 inch tyre (742mm outer diameter), would anyone be able to take their calipers to a tyre of that size and see if this shoulder knob of 57mm width matches theirs? Of course it also depends on rim width, but it should be a pretty decent ballpark, I expect to go 25mm internal width which seems quite common.
