In the 2018 Tirreno, he put 31 seconds into Adam Yates in the same time trial (the race always closes with this time trial these days).

Interestingly, that edition of Tirreno used the same finishing climb as today's stage, and Adam Yates put 34 seconds into Thomas that day.

This is on the basis that Adam is identical to Simon?

Simon Yates is a bit more of a punchy, dynamic rider than Adam Yates, but when it comes to time trialling, they both have limitations and record similar results. So it was based on that rather than the idea that identical twins record identical results.
Thomas, on the other hand, is one of the best time triallists in the peloton, but a 10 km TT is a bit short for him.
I wouldn't like to call it, but tomorrow's stage suits Yates more than it suits Thomas so he might extend his lead still.

It was a bit of a jest in case you had mixed up Adam and Simon, like everyone has for years!
Tomorrow’s stage looks spicy, looking forward to it.

Giro Rosa stage yesterday looked like fun. AVV doing what she does best.

When Froome runs up a hill, they laugh at him.

Pro racing today seems to be visiting places where I've happy riding memories. Enjoying Tirreno racing up to Loreto, I did an early season Gran Fondo here almost 20 years ago where the whole event was blessed by a priest before the start and we thought we'd got lucky as the organisers put our small group of English riders in the VIP pen at the start. The event started, we turned the first corner at the front and there was a huge peloton racing away ahead of us, full of riders who'd snuck out the starting pens and got a head start!
The Giro Rosa is finishing in Assisi, have happy memories of riding there too.

but do you have any happy memories of beddlestead ?

MVDP is back.

Was never gone. Vos, same.

• #26689
On the other hand, Ineos seems to be gone for the moment

Is the TA tt tomorrow long enough for Thomas to win the overall?
Edit - scrolling up the page gives the answer; maybe.

Vos crawling up like a spider on a wall... dat finish 😱

I really hope that women's cycling will go like it went in women's tennis--people trying to obstruct it for a long time, trying to make all sorts of sexist claims ('not exciting', 'the weak sex', etc.), and it then proving extremely popular with the public, with equal prize money, at least in Grand Slam tournaments. Still, the fight is never won:

If he gets near his form of last year, I'm looking forward to the WvA/MvdP confrontation in RvV and P-R later on. Both probably decided by mechanical failures :(

Got to be strong and lucky.
I think Alaphillipe had 6 punctures/mechanicals at this year’s strade bianche? Potentially an team mechanic/tyre/pressure issue.
-
• #26695
he is riding clinchers isnt he
-
• #26696
I think so, though he’d not get much further on punctured tubulars either.
Disc brakes take longer to change too.

Ganna and Dennis giving it a good nudge in the TT. Only 10km so it's basically just go flat out and hang on.
-
• #26698
Ganna averaged 580 watts for his last 2 kms. Averaged! He’s a monster
-
• #26699
ned boulting calling him tadger pogacar. how rude

Taking these speedbumps at 50kmh in a TT position is bonkers. Great ride from TGH too.
Edit: @fizzy.bleach opinion on the use of 'Tao' due to forum association? (I used initials to be safe)
How much time can Thomas put into Yates in a 10km flat time trial?
The last time trial they were both in that I could find was the Tour 2019 TT, which was lumpy, 27.2km and yates was around 4:41 behind. I think he was going easy on the TT in support of Adam though?
