Bernal has been overhyped by the Inneos marketing machine and Brailsfords confirmation bias. IMO
I don't like his riding style in case you couldn't tell.

Gifted? He rode away from everyone else in the race when the race was very definitely on.

I'm far from an ineos fan. I'm enjoying the fact their Tempo train isn't dictating the results, but I think bernal is clearly an exceptional talent

Considering the level and condition of everyone at the time, I don’t think there was anyone who would have caught up with Bernal on that stage or the following ones, other than maybe Thomas. Bernal was the strongest and most consistent of that Tour, even with his shaky start.
This year though, Roglic currently looks undeniable.
I’d rank Evenepoel above Bernal for future GT success assuming he can hack it over 3 weeks. His combination of w/kg, low weight and TT ability is ridiculous.
However Bernal is 23, he’s not even close to his peak years yet.
