I’ve read it’s a different viscosity and not compatible? Would you go as far as mixing it? Haven’t been able to find a small bottle of Shimano oil in stock for ages but still have a bottle of the magura stuff and I need to shorten a hose and don’t want to be caught out when I inevitably cock it up and need a bleed.

There are differences between the two in composition. The Shimano fluid has a higher boiling point. Does it matter and can you mix them without weirdness? Probably not and yes...but I'd avoid doing so if I could.
Find someone online who's done it. Don't take their word for it if they have no front teeth.

I'm sure they all claim that their own particular brake fluid is sprinkled with magic pixie dust, but one will work in the other. Personally I'd avoid mixing the two, although I doubt that in practice it would be an issue. As I said, if you need a small bottle of Shimano oil, let me know. I have some spare.

Magura Royal Blue fluid is the same stuff. Just a different colour. If you really need a wee bottle of Shimano fluid I have some spare though.
