So I’ve done the maffs and it works out *
more* economical running 99 octane in a Golf than basic fuel, despite the manual saying otherwise. It definitely does better mpg, especially on fast roads. Getting 50mpg at the moment which seems pretty nuts for a non-diesel. -

Understandable. The car looks great.

Not pressing the go button hard enough.

I reckon I got 19mpg out of my van on the way up to Mammoth Lakes and back last weekend which is pretty amazing really. Cruising at 80 nearly all the way and didn't really slow down for the mountains.

Widths and offset?

When I am not in a hurry, which is virtually never, I try to preserve precious fuel just as an exercise, the rest of the time I don't give a flying fuck. I find that the biggest drain on fuel is people who find it impossible to drive smoothly or take a simple bend without braking in the middle of it. This entire area is peopled by drivers who must need new brake shoes every year.

Looks great. With those elevated roof rails you get nice low profile roof bars that nestle between the rails. Also, this guy is your friend:

take a simple bend without braking in the middle of it.
Baffled by this too - was this as prevalent before ABS/stability control let people ignore physics?’

Such a good barge! Love the E34 wagons.
I have a BMW CD43 in a box somewhere if you’re interested, period-correct and sounds good. Can be adapted for Bluetooth with a £30 plug-in widget.

Anyone know if any good automatic gearbox specialists in London?
I toasted my Volvo’s autobox whilst ascending mountain passes, waiting to have it repatriated and expecting to need a new valve body, solenoids and possibly torque converter...

There are these Work Wheels, which are E88 "homages", which could be made to whatever offset and width I want (IIRC): https://www.workwheelsuk.com/work-wheels-brombacher-porsche-mesh.html

Will check it out. Although mine is the less beefy 4 cylinder, less performance (but plenty for me) in exchange for greater reliability and efficiency (apparently).

Not as prevalent.

Those still have to be made in Japan first and then shipped. Most likely made in the same factory as your BBS. Not sure that will get to you any sooner.

Don’t think they’re quite as ubiquitous tho!

Doesn't the owner of driftworks have these on his turbo?
Big scratch on the rear passenger side arch that needs seeing too, and a couple bits here and there, but otherwise I concur!
