I know nothing about cyclocross, but this film I randomly found on youtube today is too good not to show someone!

Selling the Pink Missile:

SSCX Charge Plug with extra knobbly Knard wheelset.

Assuming these won't go for £200 but with FMBs fitted they'd be a great race wheelset. I'd consider buying them if they weren't disc

Don't think so. Some might pop up in the ..🤢..gravel bike thread
-
• #8332
That thread wasn't created for good looking bikes ;-)

x post from wanted - I'm after some nice CX tubs
-
• #8336
Continuing my theme of hunting for cx tubs and only finding disc versions
These look like they might go for a bargain for anyone after disc tubs -

wow, absolute steal. All because they spelled tubular wrong. Which is why I didn't see them...

• #8338
Shit, sorry. Should have thought of you

Looking for a CX frame, size 56, something that won't break the bank, ideally alu frame.
Should I just buy a Kinesis CX Race? -
• #8340
canti or disc?
-
• #8341
If single speed appeals I could sell the Tricross I have, oh right, and rim brake
-
• #8342
Disc, and yes if anyone is selling anything in 54-56 range I am all ears.
-
• #8343
I've just built up a Forme Calver. Cheaper than the CX Race and Trek Crockett I was also considering and still a proper race bike.
Excuse the mis-matched rotors, the wheels are a loaner set for now

So considering getting a CX bike.
Focus Mares looks appealing but any other suggestions?
Ideally I’d be able to ride a bit of light off road gravel and potential race if I enjoy it.
Any things I should avoid?
Would I be looking for the same size as my road bike? Ie is a 58 cx equivalent to a 58 road -

Really good shout, I am thinking more and more about this frame, it really ticks a lot of boxes at a price point hard to overlook!

does anyone know of any leagues with actual dates in for this season? our league said they were looking at putting on races, but so far league registration's not even opened. no announcements since june.

Last I heard was that Wessex was hoping to go ahead but like you I’ve not heard anything concrete recently.
@GoatandTricycle my only experience with cross bikes is my current Focus Mares, it’s super fun. The only advice I’d have is if you want to ride gravel and generally potter about off road without racing then get something with room for larger tyres. Many pure cross race bikes will be excellent for cross but they won’t have capacity for super wide tyres which might be more useful if you aren’t racing. I’ve got 33mm tyres in my mares and I don’t know what the max clearance is but a fast cross friend of mine always says he’s irritated not to be able to fit large tyres to his cx bike for training and pootling.

Thanks. I’m thinking both. If you get a chance could you take a pic?
Any idea what year yours is?
to second Andy - yep, you'll be fine. I ran Avid SU with Sram Red 1 x 10 all last year and it was faultless. Far better than disc brakes
