  • Yep absolutely

  • Had an email from him earlier, he’s spent the last few months focusing on scrubs but is now making scrubs and shirts again.

  • Also thanks for making me looks at AI again - and reminding me of the three bucket jacket, it's so nice

  • Can’t really be bothered with MTM shirts anymore these days but rate these for the money https://shirtonomy.se/

  • Would've killed for all this stuff thirty years ago, some great stuff in there...

  • Never found the old-town staff to be rude at all personally. Even when I've dragged my bored off his face brother in law in there they were very friendly and engaged us all.

They’ve always been exceptionally nice to me. I did offend Marie by telling her that the patch pockets on one of their trousers were a bit naff.

  • Was there someone on here who had bought some made-to-measure white t-shirts they were happy with? Rings a bell but failing with the searches...

  • Where can I get chinos from that don't cost the earth & look alright after a few washes?

  • What sort of cut? I bought some cheap Uniqlo ones as stop gap between finding something better and they’ve lasted really well. The trouser block seems to suit me (6’2”) which is more than can be said for their baggy t-shirts.

  • Not slim fit, or skinny.
A_os relaxed fit work, but aren't very washing machine resistant!

  • Uniqlo chinos have served me well - for the price they’re what I would recommend. Community Clothing also do some but I haven’t tried those.

  • I second the uniqlo

  • I third Uniqlo, but also like Ralph Lauren for that full belm look.

The sale at Trunk Clothiers has quite a few pairs of chinos in that might be worth looking at , size depending

  • Ralph Lauren for that full belm look.

head to TK maxx to pick up some in Salmon or Claret

  • although actually there's plenty of chinos in the rapha archive sale

  • The Levis slim fit XX chinos are really good. £65. Bought two pairs, wash well.

  • Don't know the numerical designation but just ordered one of these from Coleman's in the US.
They call it a deck jacket, though from the 70s not the classic 40s version.

  • I've worn an original one of them and the originals are incredibly resistant to everything and very heavy. I believe their designation is: DSA-1-4581-64-C

It's an A-1 - but I have most commonly seen them listed as 'Extreme Cold Weather Jacket' as per Coleman's site.

  • Ah thanks, I'm thinking of using it in winter for my driving job, so a little weighty warmth and durability won't hurt. I still lust after the nicer Japanese N1 copies, but this comes in at about a tenth of the price of the most expensive ones!

  • I like an N-1 aesthetically, but unless you wear high wasted jeans/trousers, I'm not sure they work. They're just very short. I'd want more length than that for proper winters, such as yours.

An N-2 or B-3 would work better than an N-1, but that's just me :-)

  • Ah well, if I'm out and about it's a full on parka but for driving I like the shorter length - my job entails moving between the van, outdoors and inside all day long.

  • That looks great. Pike brothers from Germany do a range of N1 repros for reasonable prices. https://pikebrothers-shop.com/ItemView.action?number=P0301-13-0002

Agree about the shortness though, and all my trousers are Simon Cowell rise these days.

  • Wow, just seen the prices of old flight jackets on eBay have crept up over the years. Must dig mine out and see if the moths have killed it.
