I don't really pay much attention to the cat food costs. Budgeting twice that would more than cover that. Current cat is insured at £10 per month. Got plenty of spare cat stuff around like bowls, toys, beds etc.
It would almost be foolish not to. There's a couple, well three actually, that might be available in a few weeks.

I think a lot of insurers offer discount for additional pets. So insurance definitely not X2 or x 3. Food and snacks are the only items that you’d have to double or tripe.

10yo cat insured with direct line at £30 p/m, also have CVS heathy Pet Club at £13 p/m.
Any other providers likely to be cheaper (when adding two kittens into the mix too)?

^^Thats a friend of mine from Melbourne, he been posting videos in his stories with the cat going for rides with him in his backpack!
On an unrelated not, does anyone have any suggestions for how to stop a cat peeing on things?
One of my cats has taken to peeing on the sofa, usually he does it out of protest when I haven't been quick enough to change the litter (he's a fussy bugger!) but he did it again last night for reasons unknown. In the past its been every now and then and Ive just tried to make sure I keep on top of the litter situation but this is the second time in two weeks now!
Luckily my sofa has a removable cover but its still a massive pain in the ass to wash so Im really hoping someone has some suggestions as to how to prevent him peeing in the first place -

We've had loads of problems with Fabric pissing on our furniture over the years, for various reasons.
Reasons Fabric has pissed on our furniture include:
- Getting a dog and him marking his territory
- Accidentally buying him fragranced litter
- Being in extreme pain from undiagnosed arthritis
- Being in extreme pain from dental abscess
- Separation anxiety when we go on holiday
Are you sure the piss hasn't soaked through the cover? Give it a sniff. It is has, it is possible he/she is repeatedly pissing in the same place because it smells of piss and now associates it with being a toilet. Fabric pissed on our sofa when we came through the door after a ten day holiday yesterday...sofa cushion is a write off despite removable cover.

Just to add, its quite common for a cat with a urinary infection to piss outside of the litter box. I know it sounds unlikely but its one of the most common reasons.

Yep stonehedge is right about peeing outside a box. Would add kidney infections too especially in warmer weather.
Hope it is nothing serious.

Lock him in your bedroom for a while and see if he pisses on your bed too, if so he hates you, if not he hates the sofa.

I'm fairly certain its just out of spite/protest, he seems his normal self in every other respect and it happens usually when the litter starts to smell a bit. I don't think the piss has soaked through, he usually pees on top of a blanket on top of the sofa cover (which is pretty thick) and maybe thats part of the problem, he may very well be associating the blanket with toilet. I will keep an eye on him to make sure its nothing more serious.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys -

We had this once with a Foster, we added a 2nd litter box this got him out of the habit, I think he hated our sofa. I hated it the sofa too but I didn't piss on it as much as the cat did.
the 2nd litter box did the trick he just liked a 2nd spot to have a piss. -

If it continues to be a problem and you have ruled out him doing it to draw your attention to illness, try placing a tray next to the sofa.

Waily has a new trick. If he wants something he sits in front of the TV

What did he want? And is he still sitting in front of your telly?

He wanted to go out so no longer in front of the TV.

Stare him out. Let him know who's boss. Keep a score.

That's an anecdote about a New York comedian who visited a lady friend who kept him waiting. Later, in the living room, she found a notepad where the chap had written:
CAT -4
ME -5She had no idea what had been going on.

Quite a few variables really. Definitely insure. That's at least £25 per month. Plus food and vets bills (excess).
We have one older (uninsured) cat and he has cost us over three grand in vets bills in the last three years alone.
