  • Cavendish’s time at Sky didn’t seem to bother him when he was winning TdF stages for fun in 2016.

  • Getting towed around the Champs-Élysées by the yellow jersey to take the sprint doesn’t sound terrible either

  • there are just those riders that always pop up as potential contenders in race previews but who very rarely seem to deliver - edvald boasson hagen and dan martin are the two who always stick in my mind. whenever someone touts either of them, I know I can safely disregard their chances of winning

  • I don't know what they were being touted to deliver but winning GT stages, classics and stage races seems like pretty good work at the pinnacle of the sport. Most people are happy to get a top 10 in their local chipper.

  • Its a shame for Edvald, because he's super strong, but theres nothing he can do that a handful of others can do better.
Outsprinted by the pure sprinters (which is why I think he goes early everything for a long sprint), outclimbed by the sprinter finishers (like Sagan).

He should have got himself in all the breakaways I think, though he's too strong in the sprint for anyone in the breakaway to work with him.

  • Boasson Hagen is the fifth most successful rider currently active in terms of victories, behind just Greipel, Cavendish, Valverde and Sagan.

I think you do him a disservice.

  • People seem to forget that Dan Martin has won 2 monuments, and without his bad luck, he would have won more stages/better GC results.

He would have won more, but Valverde just wouldn't retire.

  • dan martin

    Hey?!

  • did Jumbo announce team yet?

  • They announced it about 10 months ago...

  • Yes.

    Roglic
    Dumoulin
    Van Aert
    Bennett
    Kuss
    Martin
    Gesink
    Jansen

  • NICE! Gonna be good (hopefully) the only thing missing and not required is free office air con

  • Christ - would almost have been rude for them to have taken Kruisjwijk.

  • What are you guys talking about?

Have you looked at Boassen Hagen's list of wins? He's won races at every team he's ridden for throughout a long career.

    Edit: beaten by andyp :(

  • Wout Van Aert as a mountain domestique is nuts enough but he was doing 5.9 w/kg whilst doing it

  • ^^Yeh, but can he wheelie? In every fucking race.

  • What's the @@fizzy.bleach approved nickname for EBH?

    Eddie-Boss
    Boss Hogg?

  • Edit: beaten by andyp :(

and you were both beaten by me. Winner winner chicken kebab dinner.

  • For me it's Boasson Hagen but in a really over the top Norwegian/Swedish accent like Inga here
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Hi7vLm6AP4

  • just his surname. that's all you need. if you're on mobile, EBH is acceptable with an apologetic note like what people put on their outlook for mobile

  • translating foreign names into english, however, is very much encouraged. it's funny how the rules work but i don't actually make them myself and have no influence at that level

  • Yeah, that was the greatest final stage since Merckx or Hinault.
None of that coasting across the line at the back of the bunch for Wiggo.

  • Larry Warbasse positive for coronavirus according to Twitter. Might be an early test of ASO’s protocols ahead of the Tour.
