Cheers, looks great! I’m sure I could mount it to the Omnium too. Only issue I can see is handlebar height with the deck being higher, though should be ok with the XL and small children. The Bakfiets child buckets also look pretty simple and I guess the beauty of these decks is that most stuff can be mounted to it anyway, given a few custom brackets.

"Unrestricted" - do you mean 100% on the speed limit?
-
• #5104
i dont think the speed sensor is working, I get erratic readings, there are no other restrictions (like brake sensor), have a throttle. Do they come restricted to EU regulations?
-
• #5105
Yeah mine is limited on the PAS to 15.5mph.
Throttle isn't limited though..
Speed sensor needs to be close enough to get a reading so play around with that.

makes me wonder, do I even need a speed sensor?

Lol my first thought looking at that was a puzzled ‘why is there a helicopter in the cargo bikes thread?’

Does any know about retro fitting an electric set up to a Bullitt. I was told the BB style motors wont fit, front wheel is too small and it would just be nuts to fit something on the back wheel.
I have had 5 plus great years out of the Bullitt but the kids have pretty much out grown it. So short of selling it I am weighing up my options for it. Which include an electrifying option.

yeah I did it last week, Max ^^ did it before me. Its easy and works.

Nice - good news. What option did you go for. Any details appreciated. Thanks.

What voltage is your bafang?
All of his profiles are for 48/52v. Mine is 36..
Did you just change the speed limit to 100% to get the 'limitless' vibe?
Mine's 48v, but I think you should be able to adjust the profile and set "Limited Current" to 25A or below.

Is that the wiring running below the motor? Might be worth bringing it out the other way up over the bottom bracket incase you ever end up grounding it out.

i finally began sorting out the workcycles kr8 i bought off @Thrustvector
the plan is a clean and touch up of paintwork using hammerite cream mmmmm.
i'm not a massive fan of several aspects of the kr8, namely the chainguard, cranket, stem, maybe the bars, grips, seatpost, and saddle. I plan to replace them all, but might have to be sensible about costs. there's also a danger of throwing money and time at the bike to make it look more "bikey" when it's got that lovely curvaceous tube in it which looks a bit euro-socks-n-sandals-mum-who-lets-her-kids-have-a-rat-tail.
so here's how it was when i picked it up on a sunny thursday in walsall
below you'l see it in pieces, plus some close ups of the worst rust on he undercarriage where i've pulled off the flakiest paint.
replacing the contact points should be easy, but the crankset might be a challenge. does anyone know the chainline of the Shimano Nexus SG-8R36? i measure the cranks at around 47 or 48. it's so bloody hard to get an accurate measurement from the seattube. the internet throws up all sorts of answers.

oh and i had half a mind to see if i could switch out the shifter, but the action on the nexus grip shift unit was nice, so i won't bother.

• #5117
Valid point, might do that

Ha, I don't think I ever opened up the chaincase all the way - I'd not seen the chainring was a bit ratty. OTOH, in the chaincase's favour, it allows riding in all kinds of clothes without worrying about chain muck, and - unless you've changed it - that's still the original chain on there. For something that's done at least five thousand miles in all weathers with only the odd (couple of times a year?) addition of chain lube, that's looking pretty good.
The Nexus shifter is ok - I slightly prefer the rapidfire action, but finding one suitable for a Nexus was a faff and I gave up. The only thing to beware of is that (like STIs) the cable will eventually fray at the shifter end, and if it frays enough it's a pain to remove. You should start to feel it go, and it's a fairly slow process, so it's not like you don't get fair warning.

what was cool was that the chaincase has little brushes in, which i presume keep the chain fairly clean. the whole drivetrain's in remarkably good nick, but as I was changing the cables, i thought a new chain would be a reasonable idea, and while i'm at it i MIGHT get a new sprocket, but costs...
also, disconnecting cables from roller brakes and hub gears is a new fun experience for me!

Pendix or bafang bbsd are the two main ones, both fit fine. Maybe the original mk1 frame might not fit as the bb lower tube was very chunky! Grounding out isn't a common thing, centre stand hangs lower and will likely catch first.

Cheers for this and the advice from others. I think I may have a mark one frame. I bought it about 7-8 years ago and it was 2nd hand at the time.

Is anyone aware of research on the 15.5mph ebike speed limit? Rationale from the DFT for example.
If they don't advertise that as an animated helicopter, I'll be very disappointed.
