FWIW, SRAM have just released a silver version of the Force xg-1270 cassette, probably to avoid the noise issue with the black coating.

Nice, got a link to it? Have googled but cant find.
This could bring me closer to my spendy-but-not-too-spendy-pointless-axs-upgrade

If you google XG-1270 silver then a few shops show up as having it. I think the official release date is in a month or as there aren't any images yet. Looks like they're not doing it in the 10-26 size though in case that bothers you.
