They should be ok, only one way to find out though..

be bad as an all-rounder? Ie, not terrible when I do mixed runs
They'd be better than nowt, but I can't imagine they're going to be great at either trail or road. You'll do better on the trails with them, but probably find them noticeably uncomfortable on the road (although I've found this to be the case with all my trail/fell shoes). The more pronounced the tread, the better the grip in mud/loose surfaces but the worse they feel on the road. Also the grippier the rubber on wet rock/mud the quicker it will wear on the road.
Inov8 Parkclaw look good for something in between, but obviously more expensive.
FWIW, a bit of grip/tread does go a long way provided the trail isn't too rough/muddy. And they're cheap, can't hurt to give them a shot.

I've been eyeing your 'hilly' routes through the woods, should make some fun running if I can stay upright (hence the shoes)

6pm tomorrow if you're very keen. High chance of vomit.

Back to running after holiday. Just a couple of gentle 5ks. Holiday lard certainly being felt.
Highlight of yesterday's run was a 20 second rant by someone about controlling my dog. The woman managed to fit in a surprising number of irresponsible dog owner cliches (including several hypocritical ones that applied to herself).
The best bit was saying "Have you finished? I only ask because it's not my dog" and jogging on by.

Okay thank you for the input. Trip to decathlon is off for today but their sub-£50 range is definitely something I'm going to try out.
Looking at maybe replacing longer weekend rides with some trains out to more interesting runs and want something at least moderately suitable, without investing too much in a slightly unknown hobby.
Will report back. -

I got these in the Graphene version the other day and I really like them. Proper wide fit and the tread is reasonable for off road and flatter stuff.
Can DM you a discount code too. -

I have some sympathy with podium. They're doing their best to get high quality fast racing going and raise standards with little to no support from EA. I'd imagine that being told they can't have races, days after British records were set there, is incredibly frustrating. Not everything in sport needs to be about inclusivity.

Describing other runners as fatties though? When they had no influence on the issue?

• #23520
In other news, 3s off pace.

Nope, no excuses. If you're frustrated, step away from keyboard, don't vent negative bullshit about people trying your sport. I wonder how many runners were "fatties" once.
-
• #23522
More to the point, how many runners are fatties now.

Doing my best.
10% heavier than my racing weight
Lost my funk a bit with running but trying to claw it back. 7km last night w/ my partner then a dip into the woods at the end as she headed home had me slipping about like a dog on ice in my cheap adidas.
Will something like this:
