Well it was the cost that got us talking. Looking at electric cars and doing spreadsheets investigate the cost. Looks like owning a cheap car outright, even tax, fuel and maintenance is around 20k for the next 6 years.

when it comes tom comparing cars with bike, its not even worth doing ANY calculations, cars are always expensive even if you get the highest spec'd electric cargo bike with Rohloff etc. Cars NEVER make sense for any journeys below 10 miles but I dont think corny was comparing it to cars (does corny even have a car?)
@mi7rennie I installed a Bafang motor on my bullitt yesterday for child carrying; working really well and will keep posted how it works in future :) just in terms of the motor behaviour its very much similar to Bosch Performance Line CX I have on other bike

not sure you can. only way you can is by taking offspring out onto the roads and making it a natural daily occurrence, this is how we travel. Hopefully if enough parents do this, the visbility of it makes it more acceptable for other parents to do it.
I'd be more worried about the cost of it myself, and the infrastructure to support people continuing to use cargo bikes
