Bringing the watch home?

In a way, yes.

Have a great time. Watch looks great. Hope you have the TinTin well hidden!

Could a Tudor BB58 or a BB36 serve as the only watch? I’m thinking about downsizing to only one watch. I’d like the Rolex 14270 if it didn’t have ,,Rolex” on the dial.

Depends on how you feel

• #47136
I like the idea.

It's the... ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX Etc
...on the inner bezel that gets to me.

You literally never see the rehaut in actual use.

@D-Dog yeah I run a jewellers In Hatton Garden, Queensmith we design make and manufacture everything in house (we don’t do watches)
@pullingteth no I never notice the extension. It’s my favourite watch. It’s super light and comfy and just a little bit unusual. I wish they’d made the bracelet to fit this version instead of designing a new one though.

FUUUUUCK! Rode home in torrential rain last night. Didn’t think would be a problem. Tips? Crown open and some of those sachets in a Tupperware?

I don't think sachets would help to dry it out properly. And even if they do, it would ideally need cleaning and lubricating properly to prevent any rust etc. I'd say it needs a service for sure, but I might be wrong.

Crown open and put in a box with something to dry out. Sachets, rice, that sort of thing. Not salt as that will rust.
It'll need a service I'm afraid. Try Alsal.

This is true- unless you look for it you won’t see it.
-
• #47144
Got to ask how this happened? No warranty?
-
• #47145
I did the exact same thing with my Hamilton Khaki. Crown open in a tupperware thing full of rice, covering the watch head with rice as well. Left it for a few days, solved the issue. I didn't service it afterwards.

Even if your watch worked fine after this, the various different lubes on the parts will have lost some of their properties so its likely that it'll increase moving part wear over time. This is why a service is recommended. Or at least that is what I learned on the watch repair courses I did. No idea if true or not.

Bollocks. Thanks guys. Should this really have happened in the first place, just with rain? Or had a seal gone already you think?
-
• #47148
Oh for sure, didn't mean to try dissuade away from that point. A mixture of laziness and lack of investment in that particular watch meant I didn't follow through with it.
-
• #47149
You said it happen on a downpour?, if the watch is only rated for splash, not for bath or swimming, a downpour isn’t too different to a shower
-
• #47150
You wouldn’t think of taking it off for a downpour I guess.. bad luck
