  • I dunno about these days but K5 era, the thous were as light or lighter than the 750s. I think they bloated a bit with the cats and twin exhausts of K7 on. For my money, there's no perceptible difference in weight between 600/1000s really. I'd always get the thousand as they're so much more versatile.

Not that I'm a thou evangelist, they're just more practical than the other 4 cylinder sportsbike categories.

Reckon my next sportsbike might be either a Daytona 675R or even one of the new Aprilia twins (whenever they come out.....)

I looooove these Reggiani rep colours. Probably means I'm old and have questionable taste but....

That is a very good point. I flit between thinking a S1000RR would be nice but also thinking I'd miss the character and low down grunt of a twin.

  • I love twins, but the only one I've ridden with more midrange than my K5 was a Duke 1198....that, frankly, had TOO much midrange. A large amount of power that came in like a bat and disappeared soon after. Fun but a handful. I hear the 1299s are the same but with monster top end too! The character definitely is a thing - twins seem to have more feel about them, fours more turbine like thrust. I'd like one of each please.

My ZX10R (2004) was gutless like a 600 under about 8.5k, then took off. Didn't like that engine at all.

I'd love to try some of the new superbikes and see what they're like - I've not really ridden anything post 09 or so in anger.
