I dunno about these days but K5 era, the thous were as light or lighter than the 750s. I think they bloated a bit with the cats and twin exhausts of K7 on. For my money, there's no perceptible difference in weight between 600/1000s really. I'd always get the thousand as they're so much more versatile.
Not that I'm a thou evangelist, they're just more practical than the other 4 cylinder sportsbike categories.
Reckon my next sportsbike might be either a Daytona 675R or even one of the new Aprilia twins (whenever they come out.....)

My s1000r is 12kg (wet) heavier than my CBR600 but double peak torque and apparently 75% of it is available at 3000rpm, which explains all those lovely lazy overtakes I’ve been able to do. No screaming along behind someone waiting for the perfect moment, just twist and go!
