i suspect if any non-white "hip hop" act had put out most of their records they'd be laughed out of town, yet these clowns get a pass.
Not sure if I’m interpreting the right way but I’d say that the opposite is possibly true. They got a tougher deal than most by being white and Jewish.
Frat boy rap was more than anything their persona and then they became that for a while (watch the docu on Apple TV). Licensed to Ill is essentially two albums, fratboy rap and the other is the crazy sampling and instrumentals (when you ignore the vocals). Not gonna push anything on anyone but give Paul’s Boutique more than one listen. It was produced 31 years ago and still sounds relevant today if you ask me.
not to pour scorn on anyone else's enjoyment - musical taste is fickle as fuck and i'm sure i like loads of bands that are objectively utter shite. that said - BB is white frat boy nonsense for the most part - i suspect if any non-white "hip hop" act had put out most of their records they'd be laughed out of town, yet these clowns get a pass.
anyway, what do i know.
flame away if you fancy, probably won't engage - said what i said in the spirit of the thread title.
