Last test I got this advisory and a fail on some other things:
Repair immediately (major defects):
Offside Rear Position lamp showing white light to the rear (4.2.3 (a) (ii))
The garage fixed this by putting some red electrical tape over a small hole in the light and then duly passed it on the retest. His parting words were "it will need sorting eventually". I have kept an eye on breaking parts since, but the light cluster is still north of £100.
I'm booked into the same garage for the new MOT. Given that they fixed it last time and the fix has held up, am I safe to assume that it won't come up again?
It will be an advisory again, so long as there is no white light showing then it should pass, I had repeat advisories on cars when I was a tester. The test is as the car is presented at that time and place, it is surprising how bad some stuff has to be to fail it :)
MOT question.
