Audi apologise for their advert:
https://twitter.com/AudiOfficial
We sincerely apologize for this insensitive image and ensure that it
will not be used in future. We will also immediately examine
internally, how this campaign has been created and if control
mechanisms failed in this case. -
• #61678
Why did they have to apologise for this ad? Or am I being very slow and stupid (no surprise there) ignorant or nieve.
-
• #61679
Audi drivers keep killing children.
-
• #61680
Ah yeah..that will cause people to be upset. I was being stupid.
-
• #61681
Meh, it's a kid leant on a parked car outside a house.
-
• #61682
wow liam fox fucks up AGAIN

He must be having a secret competition with Chris Grayling...

Car firms trying to make money by dragging kids into advertising a "family car" that weighs two tons and does 200mph.
The language in their apology is a bit strange:
-
• #61684
"The weakest traffic participants"
Did ED209 write this? "Juvenile human is soft and weak. Threat code: 0. Engage empathy. Let juvenile lean on AUDI209's tech shell".
-
• #61685
All that said - I can't for the life of me imagine reading the news every day and seeing this advert and saying to myself "this... this is the final straw... this is what I'll stand up against today... I'm drawing a line!"
-
• #61686
I guess it’s an advertising strategy, self cancelling in an attempt to appear empathetic.
A bit like the Planet X faux internal email which appeared to have been sent by accident claiming that there was an error in a price listing and they were losing money on a frame.
-
• #61687
I mean, the kid could have been leaning on the side of the car, not the grill like some kind of slow motion crash.
-
• #61688
Yeah but it's a hell of a stretch to say that it's in any way insensitive. I mean I'm as soft as your pocket, but I couldn't be triggered by that pic if I'd run a creche by a motorway and an oil tanker had steamed through it during 'banana break'.
-
• #61689
Could have been a kid cartwheeling near the car, that would have been more ambiguous.
-
• #61690
Reads like a non-native speaker, structure is quite Germanic.
-
• #61691
I enjoy taking the piss out of Audi drivers as much as the next person, but I don't see why this photo is such an issue. Presumably it would've been fine had the kid been sitting on the bonnet?
-
• #61692
DjBeeTee tweeted: "Let's add it up: Red=eroticism, sports
car=substitute for potency, animal print mini-skirt=sex appeal,
banana=phallic symbol. But sure this is all just accidental..."https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-53648638?utm_source=thedextazlab

sitting on the bonnet
Typo?
-
• #61694
Agree on the odd use of "weakest traffic participants" (I can only assume that kids were deemed too passive for them to be referred to as 'road users' in this instance?), but why the need for quotes around "family car", isn't it just an upgraded Audi A4? Isn't including kids in "family car" advertisements pretty normal?
-
• #61695
So the add is saying, buy an Audi and get a blow job from a kid?
I totally missed that, feel so ashamed now.
-
• #61696
Wow, ok.
I really feel DJBeeTee is over-reaching.
-
• #61697
Right, so blue Audi, kid eating apple, wearing polka-dot clothes (mini-skirt? Oh fuck off) and we're all good?
Edit: Honestly not trying to be an asshole here, I personally don't see an issue with it and am interested to what is setting others off.
-
• #61698
Nope, is this a hood/bonnet thing I'm missing?
-
• #61699
Maybe a sitting shitting reference?
