Yeah I've had this too - I used the muc off carbon paste and it worked fine - got generallly annoyed at the post so swapped it over to a carbon one from @jono84 and the ride quality is certainly nicer. I'll keep the post for whenever I get around to building a retro mtb for dicking about on though
