  • I can confirm that the handling on my DIY cycletruck was dire (terrible wobble loaded or unloaded) until I significantly reduced the size of the rack. Rides well now but cargo capacity is a lot lower. Still more stable than a front rack on a fork. Next cargo bike will be an Omnium style one with a small headtube up front and a steering linkage (is that the plan for yours @M_V ?)

    Yup. That was the rose joints arrived this morning so got it all put together and just carried a 20kg box to the post office on it and can confirm, it has made it an entirely different bike.

    Wish I'd gone with this design from the start as I would have had a continual tube from bb to front headtube If I had.

  • Oh yes, that looks great! Glad it's sorted the steering issues. Happy enough with mine for now, this winter will bring more chopping and fiddling though.
