Some sort of lockdown again here in Manchester according to hancock. Can’t imagine anyone is going to take any notice.

Got friends going to the UK for a week. Some got there today; no problem. The others go tomorrow and would have two weeks quarantine.

Bbc on it https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-53602362
Apparently (via family in Bury) they're doing this to squash Eid celebrations this weekend to prevent the current NW spike worsening.

It's all bullshit though if pubs & shops etc stay open? Sounds like I can go to the pub but not visit my Mum who lives alone?

It's a good time to go on holiday. The last minute deals are mental.
Just saw a 7 night stay in a 3* half board hotel in corfu with return flights with BA for £249.
(Not actually a good time to go on holiday)

Totally agree and who has given their names to anyone for track and trace .

“ so it will mean that no two households should meet in places including pubs and restaurants.”
So people can still go to pub as long they don’t meet someone from a different households.

• #15288
It very much seems like that tbh.

No one has a clue as there aren’t any actual guidelines and it’s being made up as they go once again.
-
• #15290
MP on newsnight just said they arent publishing guidelines as they are treating people like grownups
chump
-
• #15291
Guidelines again? Most other countries are passing laws and the UK is making vague statements.
-
• #15292
Actually seems pretty strict although I imagine it’s going to get largely ignored as pubs and restaurants are still open.
Is it out of order to drive to barnard castle on the weekend? Asking for a friend...
-
• #15293
Yeah, let's be honest, I don't really do the 'gram. So far as I know everyone is still wearing
I think silver ion is what the material is impregnated with though, not the colour? Don't they do that with cycling kit to stop the pong?
-
• #15294
I don't really do the 'gram.
If you do it, do it properly, do it by the 8ball.*
*probably messed it up. That right?!?
-
• #15295
8ball = 1/8th of an ounce, sounds about right. I mean, I see where you were going with that but you kinda lost it when you questioned yourself. If you're gonna joke, you gotta commit to the joke!
-
• #15296
Yeah, wellllll, I really didn't want to ask Jeeves, is an 8ball of coke a thing... Might be a magic ball or a Que ball... Even though Jeeves is probably smash that.
-
• #15297
This Covid-19 thing seems to be worse than we thought:-

“Hands, face, space” needs to get in the fucking bin. The bumbling idiot sounds so proud spewing that drivel every other sentence.

At the heart of the current slackness regarding the mismanagement of CV19 is colonial smugness right? There’s this background attitude which essentially boils down to the fact that Jonny Foreigner is dirty and unruly and that we aren’t - therefore we won’t succumb to the nasties. Also we’re proud, superior beings who won’t react well to governance.
In a little bit of good news. Ryanair have just acknowledged that I can have a refund for the £1k group of flights I had booked in early April.
They have put me in a queue.
