  • haha! Yes lates 60s bungalow, 1975 car , wife and i both born in 1970- bit of a theme going on here..

  • Just on a ratchet. And yep, one of the exhaust bolts was the culprit!

  • There's a guy on youtube who tests different versions and variations of tools. When he did the not/bolt extractors, that style seemed to work the best. I had no idea they existed before I saw the video.

  • @johnnettles2 Ah man that looks great, must be a nice feeling knowing you've got such a classic tucked away in the garage for when the sun comes out. Looks in great condition too.

@mmccarthy these are super useful, I have the Irwin version which often got used on the MX-5. I found they don't always work but you have a much better chance than without them!

  • thanks indeed- it's booked in with a Citroen DS specialist in a couple of weeks with a few things to sort out - i might be selling some more bike bits when i get the bill!!

  • This one?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWLxzuDMuhk

That was the one that convinced me to pick up a set. Can confirm they're damn handy!

  • That's the badger

Yeah I've currently only got a sample size of 1 so can't draw out too many conclusions just yet! Not looking forward to the day that one of those can't get the job done. Probably just sell the car and get a new one at that point...

  • The idea of lying under a car using one of those on something I've been liberally soaking in penetrating fluid is some good nightmare fuel!

I'm sure it makes a great créme brûlée though

  • bwak bwak bwak

    penetrating fluid

That'll burn off in no time......

  • bwak bwak bwak

I'd like to remain an unroasted one though!

  • Fire proof overalls, and children with water bottles just in case.

  • Mate just bought this. Gash stickers and chrome bonnet scoop aside it drove great, full service history and one owner from new.

  • He won't lose it in the supermarket car park.. Supercharged?

  • Turbocharged. Fear not, the stripes and the chrome bonnet scoop cover will be off immediately if not sooner :)

  • I find it interesting that you don't see many Barrys driving them.. I live in hot hatch land and the barrys are all in Focus sts and corsa vxrs.. Grown up barry now driving M140i rather the previous de facto golf r...

  • Any chance someone from here would be interested in swapping my CLK350 convertible (ULEZ compliant, fresh service and MOT) for your 5dr petrol automatic...?

I've made a half arsed attempt to sell for a while but having being stung in the past buying used I've been putting it off, my last car before this one was a VW touran had the engine mount break and the sump drop out the bottom on a trip to IKEA in Portsmouth, got me out of having to go round IKEA tho.

Missus is learning to drive and she almost smashed straight into a parked car the other day, she also ran over one of those children shaped please watch your driving signs, I had to jump out and bend it back into shape, I really am not a good teacher I now know. Don't worry we now have booked more lessons and plan on sticking to the car parks in the future.

Looking for something smaller like a Honda Jazz... good for a learner, automatic, petrol...?

  • i'd love a clk. what year is it?

    how's the subframe?

  • Automatic might cause more accidents - least with a manual there'll be a lot of stalling and less forward motion...
I say this because our 09 Honda Jazz petrol with panoramic sunroof - 12 months MOT and service done today and just parked up outside my house is for sale...!
Wiltshire based but the manual aspect might put you off plus the fact that we're not looking for a swap...

  • £? Asking for a friend

  • I mean my Nan

  • You don't see many of these in the wild...

  • I do not think that can be the original colour

  • It's a rite of passage. I've set myself on fire twice welding underneath a car. And that was with MIG rather than The Blue Spanner.
