  • RIP, I still listen to those tunes now... He was amazing...

  • Finally feel like I’m getting somewhere with this.

I decided to go with Lake Placid Blue nitro, in the end.

  • that colour is mintox.

is it gonna be a shred cannon?

  • Nah, bit more sedate than that. I’m hoping for a nice, chimey 12-string.

  • That's such a great colour, and it looks like it went on perfectly.

  • Welllll, not perfectly, but I’m more than happy for a first attempt rattle can job. Cheers.

There’s the odd pinhole in the finish where the grain filler didn’t reach all the pores in the ash, but it’s not noticeable. Getting swamp ash perfectly level is much trickier than I have the patience for - I’ll be using alder next time.

  • Love the colour man! Leopard tortoiseshell would look great for the pick guard on that!

  • I’m down with red tort, certainly!

  • Great job!

  • I'm gonna need more raxx.

  • Magnifique!

  • Awww yeah! What a gorgeous beast.

  • She Sells Sanctuary on repeat in Croydon tonight!!

    It's a beauty, why didn't I buy it?!?

  • It's a thing of beauty. Congrats man.

  • Love the Shakey sticker. Have you ever listened to Chart Music? It's the greatest podcast ever casted. Every month there's between 4-5 hours of of super in depth discussion of an old episode of Top of the Pops by a collection of grouchy opinionated and always fucking funny old Melody Maker hacks. Taylor long ago coined the pre-fix "Shaking" to denote a pound-shop facsimile of the real thing.

  • Just listed to the start of that one again. 'Never Say Never Again 2: Never Say Never Say Never Again Again" starring Ben Dover as Blofeld and Mister Tumble as Jaws. Hehehehe

  • yeah cheers bois.

it's a treat to play, and the chimey, bell like sound is noticeable even when played acoustically. Mike reckons they're the same strings that it was fitted with out of the box.

    and why not.

  • I remember when he bought it, I don't think it's ever been played in anger...

  • Where are we on the amp front? I feel the need to interfere with your decision making process... 🤥😘

  • hehe please do. Mike was playing it through a wee little vibro champ and it sounded ace. top of the list so far.

  • Project tinkering

  • I love these, I reckon this one is a bit too expensive, mine was cheaper and was much cleaner... It will give you a massive range of sounds from clean to crunchy to quite distorted, brilliant amp and great size...

    Have a listen to Adrian's...

  • I have a Blackstar Studio 10 with the KT88 in arriving today... might swap the speaker out for a better Celestion at some point, maybe a creamback but I’ll see how it sounds. The 6L6 variant sounds pretty good from demos as an affordable Fender style combo (doesn’t look as good as the silver face Fenders though obviously). They also have an fx loop. Found mine for £399 delivered, I’ll give feedback (pun intended).
