  • I just got both post mount and flat mount brake tab fixtures from incepi, so will be more adventurous with caliper mounts in the future.
I did something very similar to that there when I did @JesperXT s all road

  • that MTB is probably my favourite forum bike at the moment, it's feels good even just to look at it

  • Thanks dude.

I do like it a lot.

If I was able to change a couple of things I would have more seatpost showing by sloping the top tube more and having the wishbone meet the seat tube at a lower point. Maybe 20mm further down.
I am a fairly heavy rider and have bent seat posts when I rode cross so wanted to have as little post exposed as possible. Next time I do a mtb frame I'll go for a larger seat tube so I can have a bigger diameter post or potentially a dropper post. Also I am currently running a 100mm travel fork (because my brother ordered the wrong one) instead of a 120mm which the frame is designed for. 100 is plenty for the riding I do, but it would look more badass with more travel I reckon.

  • New bars are good. Slightly narrower and more rise which suits my back and neck.
I need to dial the lever position but other and that I am happy with this setup.

  • My daughter is a crack addict on a cold turkey.
And while she is getting off breast feeding I have become permanent daddy daycare. Which means rushing to do frame building during her naps.
It is quite nice having her in the workshop actually, but it is not good for the quality of my work :)

Anyways I have managed to do some disc tabs on my wife's new mum bike.

I did some experiments with masking off what I modded, but I think I'll spray the whole thing.

Whats wrong with IS on the seatstay? never found an issue. Super easy to adjust, dont have to try and squeeze allens into small gaps..

  • Absolutely nothing. Now I can just do any mount and with the security of having someone else do the right measurements on the fixtures :)

  • Little fixed winter road bike coming up.

Also watch this space. Actual framebuilding might occur this coming week!

  • Oho nice. gunna work your magic on that fork steerer?

  • Si si. Extenduation will take place

  • Quick mock up of things.

I have black Thomson kit which will be alright with Rotor cranks and a black flite.

    To do is:

    • extend steerer
    • add bottle cage bosses to frame
    • replace seat stay bridge to make room for mudguards
    • add eyelets for rear mudguards
    • rebuild rear wheel with silver spokes
    • figure out how and where I want dynamo lights mounted.

I am actually looking forward to winter now

  • I might change brake levers for either tektro ones or Campy xenon ones if I can find a clamp thingy

  • I'll use these lights.

But sure how well the front light mount works with the Shimano long reach caliper brake and mudguard.

  • Thats gonna be great!

  • Picking up my new lathe tomorrow.
Nothing fancy but will be good for small tasks and maybe even mitrering of stuff that's tricky to do on the mill

  • Interested in selling still?

  • But sure how well the front light mount works with the Shimano long reach caliper brake and mudguard.

I think you'll want this mount

but you could also go for bar mount too

  • Yes. Those are options for sure. I realize there is a hole in the mudguards you gave me so might try and mount the light there to begin with.

  • That hole was for the thorn fork which has an eyelet under the crown

  • Makes sense.
I have a bracket further down the mudguards for brake mounting so this is just there now. Makes sense to try and mount the light there to occupy the hole. If the beam isn't blocked by the front wheel

  • Something like this for the hole in the mudguard could work nicely
