Ruislip golf course is normally mown/fertilised/pesticided beyond a natural habitat.
With HS2 taking it over, until at least 2026, the grass is growing longer,
and some 'weeds' have prospered.
Last week I finally saw the first evidence that the Cinnabar moth had found the common ragwort that would normally not flower due to being repeatedly mown down.

Do your critters have the defining 7 pairs of pro-legs or suckers on the abdomen that distinguish them from true caterpillars?
http://www.wlgf.org/wildlife/sawflies_woodwasps.htmlEditted to correct;' 7 pairs of legs' to '7 pairs of pro-legs or suckers on the abdomen'.

Elephant Hawk Moth, so-called because they eat pachyderms.
-
• #271
They're the main reason we have so few wild pachyderms in the UK.
-
• #272
We even have to import them from Australia.
-
• #273
Has a mega caterpillar too.
