Could you tape back the beer gut towards your back so that you end up with an aero fin?

Was thinking more staple gunning it to my chin for a front fairing.

Going to give the hour climbing challenge ago, my brother has set 900m so I obviously need to better that. Thinking I want something above 10% average grad, good turning points and descent.
Any suggestions for a hill? -

Canonbie road to horniman drive

I thought about that, is turning good both ends though?

Sounds good. Just need to find me a decent 60’ mountain climb.

Well I think what might be better then is ringmore rise. There's that bit at the top that lets you circle round, you can go down Westwood park and then back up ringmore?

Could be worth a recce.

• #587
Yeah that could also be worth a look. Closer to home too.

I haven’t dug proper, but a brief look at some hour long climbs I’ve tackled shows about 1200m climbed in an hour. I reckon I’d struggle to do that in hill repeats.

Well my target is a 1000m, I’d need 7.8 reps of the wall. That seems very tough to me.
Think I’ll need a good bit of research to find the most suitable hill. -

Kop hill in the Chilterns? Very quiet road, nice big gradient and a straight quick descent.

• #594
You must have some good recommendations!?

• #595
Yeah bit of a trek. @hazzelfrazzel everested it

Fair. Brasted Chart is a safe bet if south London is ideal.
Does it have to be one hill? Carbone Hill in Herts is basically a big half pipe, you'd carry heaps of speed into each climb every time you turn around.

A half pipe would be ideal!
Yeah that’s not bad, south side of Toys too maybe.

For maximum elevation round here you can't really beat Toys of Ide. I'd prefer Ide as it's a more even and less sapping gradient. Good village shop turn-around at the top and pretty quiet at the bottom.
I really like Birling Hill, nice even gradient and quiet. 1.3km @ 8% for 108m
If you want steeper Butts Lane could be good, 1km @ 13% for 133m. It's a road to nowhere so quiet, at least during the week. It does have a kick at the end though so might be demoralising on the 6th time. You could always turn around before the top if you don't feel up to the last 20m of climbing. Think there's a direct train from London.
Something inbetween would be Firle Bostal - 1.27km @ 10% for 125m. Bit of a warmup to start, easier in the middle, last 400m at 12%. Could be good, never gets punishingly steep. If the wind is going south you're laughing. Direct train to Lewes then a short nice ride past Glyndebourne opera house. Also a road to nowhere / ok turns.

I think out of those I'd go for Firle Bostal with a favourable wind.
Very into how you're turning hill climbs into an endurance event!

Vo2 intervals with 2 minutes recovery between each, what could go wrong...
I'd lose some aero watts then with nothing holding my moobs and beergut in. :)
