• Sequential dog box? If not, it's still relatively sensible.

    It's actually become the crucial part of the project, a rebuild on a Gt3/turbo box is around 15k, plus the box - so around 20-22k. That's too much, the best option would be to rebuild the M96 gearbox, but (of course) no one does that with new ratios, so we'd need to source gearsets from Albins and then find someone in the UK who would split the case and rebuild the box (which of course Getrag says is not rebuildable).

    A sequential with helical gears that can be changed easily for different ratios would be ideal, for around 8k, plus I'd like my hair to grow back and a puppy that plays football.

  • Makes a Quaife box seem like a bargain, even if you would need the 996 installation kit. Almost certainly not helical gears though.

    I've had a long conversation with them - that's for the Mezger series of engines and (they've tried) cannot be made to fit an M96, apparently.

    The M96 and the Mezger stagger their cylinders in opposite directions, so packaging and mounting is quite different between the two.

    I do wonder whether a motorsport gearbox might be the best choice here, if we could get quieter gears of course.
