I think longevity was one of the appeals of belts for me but I realised the other day I have a fixed cog on one of my bikes that I bought from Brick Lane when I was in London for the ehbpc in what was that...2009? It doesn’t even have any visible wear on it yet and it’s not like it’s not been used, at points it’s been in pretty much daily use on bikes I’ve used for commuting. I just use cheap chains and change them regularly.
