I have massaged a whole household of beater wheels to a healthy state of tension and trueness.
On a new wheelset I am used to apply linseed oil on threads,
is it recommended to use it on old wheels?
I doubt it will find it's way in the treads now.
Maybe light thread lock or nail varnish?

Put a dab on the nipple before you start. As you turn the nipples it will work its way down. Cant hurt

All the nipple twisting is now done sadly,
with 4 sets to deal with,
I didn't bother taking the tyres off.
I 'll do lit now,
my daugher had a look at wheel mending,
she needs practise on taking tyres off.

I twisted a lot of them at more than 90 degrees,
no apparent hurt.
