  • This may be the case but in my head it is one of the best TV shows ever, and to be honest I only remember the car(s). The fact that I haven't watched it in at least 30 years is neither here nor there.

I suppose that next you'll be telling me that Miami detectives in the 80s didn't actually drive Ferraris or go everywhere dressed in pastel coloured linen suits with FUKEN SHOULDER PADS and espadrilles (an eminently suitable choice of footwear for running after baddies).

  • Thanks - i test drove it over Dartmoor on Sunday - it's a 75 DS 20 Pallas - i was wafting all over the place . where are you based in case i need a mechanic ;)

  • As a mate of mine says, I like to think that somewhere out there there's a big blue piece of Detroit iron called the General Grant, giant stars and stripes on the roof, that crushes the Dukes of Hazard every race they meet...

  • leafy suburban street near Wimbledon

Where?? I need to go get some pics of this

  • In less exciting car news i learnt some basic maintenance from my Grandad today. Oil changed, oil filter renewed, spark plugs and new air filter. Main thing (we both) learnt is to label the spark cables so you dont accidentally plug them in the wrong order

  • That is absolutely lovely dude. If I am ever down your way I will be inviting myself round to see this up close. Beautiful car

  • Well done that man because I couldn't remember

  • Yes thanks, I tried to post in your for sale thread but it was locked so no more posts can be made. But you got a mention in the good traders thread instead, along with pics of the freshly polished goods that now look like new, couldn't be happier.

I also posted some nice old Citroen's in there I'd seen around London for your inspiration, but you were obviously busy sorting out the real thing :)

  • It will be available as a forum "Wedding / funeral / etc " car as i'm thinking that i'll start up a bit of sideline business ...
Am i right in thinking that cars this old are exempt from emission zone rules / congestion charges in London? ( i could just look it up i suppose)

  • Thanks so much for that - they look great - the wheels / post and cars!
Discount for you if you ever need chauferring around in a DS :)

  • I can’t believe I used to have official cassette tapes of the show. Audio book style didn’t even get to see the car stunts

Then there was that awful bike polo team too

  • Yes classics are exempt, rolling 40year +

  • The MOH were pure class.

  • Bar that odd hood scoop. I don't recall any supercharged Charger models either.

That green though is lovely. I miss some of those lairy late 60s/early 70s car colours. Every car is grey, white, and black these days.

  • Your van is faster than an 80s Ferrari. Take heart. And never wear espadrilles.

  • I need to learn this sort of shit. I've bought a Haynes manual as the first step which is currently sitting on my kitchen table. Unfortunately I just have a London street to work with, not a setup like that! Is that his garage?

  • Cheers dude! x

  • Manual xv is cheap, Subaru is Lego so bolt in a turbo engine, brakes and gearbox from a 6 speed WRX and boom, there's your dirt ripper.... Easy as that. (Car projects always go to plan)

  • If you are lucky the leads only reach one plug ;)

@Fox want a hand? Have access to garage space. Tools might be an issue ;)

  • The definitive celluloid Charger is the black, 1968 villain's car in Bullitt. Pissed all over the Mustang for speed too.

Having driven a few cars of that era, hats off to stuntman Bill Hickman.

  • Did you choose the pic with the beetle for a reason ;)

  • Had to overtake the dark green Beetle 3 times though...

  • Your van is faster than an 80s Ferrari.

And definitely faster than the Daytona, which IIRC wasn't even a genuine Ferrari. Never watched the show mind you, but love the theme tune. I still have an urge to buy a Fairlight CMI. Greenscreentastic.
