(twice)
I'm afraid I got a bit bored a few weeks ago and with my daughters went for 10270 twice.

I don't know how the illegal LEGO market works, but as I understand it, it's more lucrative to break sets up and sell them on BrickLink or other marketplace sites, so I imagine that, while it's a lot of work to break up and sort 18,000 sets, there may be little chance these will be recovered. Still, you never know, so perhaps police are able to find a lead before the breaking-up happens.

Anyone recognise what set this wreck used to be?
Something star wars, I guess.

Awesome! Thanks a lot.
I think we have most of the rest of the bits amongst all the other wrecked crafts. -

Cool. Thanks.
We’ll have to leave reconstruction to another day as these guys have gone into free-building mode.

Not a bad period for LEGO Star Wars.

As an update I think Lego offered to replace all the stolen sets.
Edit yes they have:

Nice to see some good news when it is generally a bit thin on the ground.
The last car set I built was 30+ years ago and that was the 8865 Test Car and I loved that. I just got an itch to do another one (mostly down to this thread) and I liked the look of 8448 because its outer shell didn't seem to hide away all the technical gubbins underneath. I was also thinking about the 8880 but got lucky on this bid.
