I wish it was confirmed. there's a lot of life that could intervene but I'd like to.

Do it! My fantasy running career path involves retiring from flat marathons after conquering sub-2:30, followed by lots of scenic races of various lengths and up-and-down-ness. (But not sure if BGR is beyond my navigational skills!)

Forgot that this week was 'hard' week (trying to do a 4 week cycle of: easy, medium, hard, recovery) so I pushed it on my 5k this morning:-
(These aren't popular segments hence the top 10 leaderboard placings...)
Ugh.

Sadly. I reckon a v60 BGR might stick as an aspiration...

In other news: club transfer complete finally and new vest ordered. Should try running a bit more really.
-
• #23257
So a full running club now? Shame there's no racing and it sounds like autumn x country is doubtful as well.
Nice work @greenbank

Aye, after 10yrs in the Tri club the last 8 of which I've done zero Tri's.
In other news, Mcr mara cancelled

All the keen marathon runners I know are looking abroad at the moment: Athens, Limassol, San Sebastian, Helsinki.
I ran a 400m for the first time ever last night, 58s, my hamstrings are very tight today.
It looks like John Kelly is struggling a bit, although the north east weather today is cool and damp, which should help.

Nice 400m time.
John going to have to dig deep to stay ahead of schedule, that early pace may bite his arse.
Sabrina has written a short note about her Wainwrights

I'm 218km in (132km running, the rest has been walking... fuck me I'm so sick of walking, but my sprained ankle and sore knee (ITB maybe?) are somewhat grateful), so I still have a hell of a long way to go. Scheduling is a challenge, as is laundry...
We're getting vests made if you want one, I can post it to you (might take a long time). -

Little update to this:
- Apricot and cashew mix = was tasty and nice to have solid food along.
- Carrying 500ml water = could drink double this. Tiring to grip a bidon for so long.
- Slowing down pace by 20%. = Really tricky to force this, feels sluggish/boring and not natural, but certainly conserves energy and overall probably enjoy the long run more.
Yesterday's long run was 3.30 hr total and included lots of little breaks, totalled about 23 miles. Going slower in the week has added more energy to the Sunday long run. Next challenge is with carrying 1kg of food/water. I'm going to look into vests/bum bag/belt things, but it isn't a world I'm familiar with. Thanks again for the advice folks.

I find it hard to lower my pace too. I'm starting to wonder whether it's a learned skill that requires practice.
-
• #23267
Yeah, just feels so slow.

Nice one. If money allows, throw a few grams of raw shelled pistachios plus some dried mango into the food mix.

Dried mango - running snack of the gods
-
• #23270
I'd love to take dried mango with me on a run but whenever I buy it I eat it immediately :(
I also eat at least one fresh mango every day in summer.
I have a mango problem. -

And a race report: https://randomforestrunner.com/2020/07/a-new-pennine-way-record/
Long but insightful.

Nice write up, the Chinook clip was impressive too.

Very impressive. Reminds me of walking in the Howgills as a kid and being flown over by the RAF.
And another attempt in the Pennine Way is about to start...

any recommendations for an arm (not wrist) based HR monitor. I find my chest based HR strap too annoying for running (Wahoo Tickr) and my Garmin 735xt chronically under-reads

Polar oh1 for me. I'm happy with it
Hope this won't become a case of "doing a Jim Walmsley"?
Confirmed? Enjoy!
