  • Will be interested in how this route turns out. Looks like a fun ride but got stuff planned on the Saturday that I can't make work with an overnight ride before hand unfortunately.

  • Komoot (and some other apps) will give you surface breakdown of road/gravel/etc

  • Pretty confident it is going to be great, especially after @andyp chipped-in.

If we do end up with 2 bumpy kms out of 138, I think that is an ok price to pay for what looks like an ace route.

  • When we rode down there over a decade ago I was so blown I stayed in Rye, then always regretted not flying to the beach.

It would be a pure bonus if I could get down there this weekend and touch the sand before I leave this hemisphere forever.

  • Weather looking deluxe too.

  • ^ Good times..

  • Less hills in this new route.

  • ^^^ Peak LFGSS, big 'ol list in the thread, 35 ride out to the country, wait for everybody, ram the train on the way home.

    Going to miss this country.

  • Yeah, I'm not saying it's necessary to avoid, just that you can often dump a route in and work out if it's sealed road or not. Used it a bit for TCR, etc. to try and avoid gravel roads.

  • I was gonna say that the only time I've been to Cambersands was with lfgss

"I am a small Atlantic salmon and I will be wearing a ball gown whilst towing a midget and eating hot buttered popcorn."

"The sight of Hippy having stopped for a pint as the rest of us struggled to catch up"

    Well, one thing hasn't changed.

  • Man, if I hadn't already planned a weekend in the Chilterns with the missus I'd drag the fixie skidder out definitely not ride my fixed gear but could've joined on the Kinesis.

  • Maybe one day I'll get there too. I haven't had a geared bike in twenty years (Sram Automatix doesn't count).

  • The cracked Condor covered in beer stickers is my only fixed nowadays. Had to put flats on that too coz midfoot and the massive toe overlap made riding it tricky. It still gets out but only to pubs and shops. I do have a couple of singlespeed mtbs though. They're great for lazy coasters like me :)

  • If anyone did want to come on this ride, PM me and I'll get back to you.

Maybe was too short notice, unfortunately that is my life right now.

  • Still keen, pm'd.

  • @Ruserius

    What are you saying?

  • Yes yes, am in! Rode a little last night and was so pleasantly warm. Tonight looking even better

  • Cool, that makes three so ride can go ahead.

  • Probably leave mine at 22:00 in E10, at Greenwich 45 minutes later.

If people can make it, let me know.

    PM for deets.

  • Super stoked for this now.

Yesterday I was worried I'd committed myself to something nobody wanted to do and I didn't have the energy for.

This is my fourth-last weekend(tbc..) in the UK so needed to make it count.

Glad I have got a little group together.

  • Any interest for midway coffee stop? I can take the stove & aeropress, you'll only need a cup.

  • Maybe, see how I feel when I wake up at 21:30.

  • Here (around) 22:20 if you have a last minute thought to ride 140Km to Camber Sands in the middle of the night.
