• Loving the thread, so many interesting builds. The Nukeproof looks great fun and is a genre of bike I've been looking into recently. It seems we last rode mountain bikes at roughly the same time if you were on a Lobo. How are you finding it?

  • The Nukeproof is a real learning curve - harder than I thought it would be and is taking some patience. To be honest I’ve not given it a hammering yet given the lockdown but I’ve had a number of rides around the local woods and have been to a few local jump spots.

I think compared to the mtbs I had back then (Lobo for downhill and DMR Trailstar for jumps and 4x) it feels so long and slack (which might seem an obvious thing to say given the geo changes over the years!). For example on those old bikes if you were going down something steep you really had to get your body way back over the rear wheel (given the steep old headtubes), whereas on the new bikes you can stay much more centred, which is great for control and speed but just takes some time to trust.

It goes crazy fast though, even as a hardtail it seems to roll through the type of sections I recall being hard on the Lobo! I think it’s going to be a massive amount of fun - will just take slightly longer to realise its potential than I anticipated!
