Tbf, i'd say it only makes sense to build up that Raleigh, if it has sentimental value to you. The frame looks very heavy and of low quality, check out the ropey welds and the way the dropouts are joined to the stays. At the same time, you can get quality retro mtbs made from tange steel and the likes with solid lx/dx/xt components for next to nothing.
Btw: Love the diversity of your bikes and the attention to detail :)

Oh yeah, I’m totally aware the Raleigh is a heap of shit! It’s unbelievably heavy. By ‘good shape’ I just meant safe to ride to the shops, I’m not going to drop any money on it other than v cheap essential replacements.
The Dawes is actually really nice to ride, so might give that a bit more attention.
Ha! No I’m pretty excited about getting them in good shape. Old mtb parts can be had so cheap that they should make pretty good bases for some budget builds.
