  • All I can offer to the conversation is that similar cover from M&S insurance is considerably cheaper than that.

  • I added fiance's engagement ring and it came out not diss-similar to that number. If you have a safe and they're kept in there then that takes cost down quite a lot.

@Stonehedge weird that isn't my experience of M&S as I tried them last time I had this convo. I'm getting insurance for the new house, so might try them again.

  • That's 43.5mm on 7 inch wrist. I thought 42mm was the hard limit for my wrist size but with the unusual proportions this seemed to work out okay.

The 41.5mm may be the shout for a 6.5" wrist.

  • Our policy is about £870 annually with Santander. That covers my watches (not as high value as yours) and my wife’s jewellery which would exceed your watch value. One claim over recent years for my Apple Watch which I dropped and smashed. Absolutely no hassle to get a replacement - new watch bought in two days. Original watch was from Apple Hong Kong, replacement from UK and no hassle because of that. Highly recommend them. I work with people who pay less than half that for insurance but they don’t have the additional cover.

  • looks really great - that is the newish sort of 62mas homage isnt it? I'm no seiko expert so apologies if I am wrong

  • Yep, SPB147J1

  • That looks fantastic.

  • Yeah, I think it's a good one. Hype possibly justified.

A good number of the photos taken of these make them look huge. This is an annoying effect of the wide angle lens on camera phones. It's actually tiny.

  • Oh! How is it?

  • I like it but my taste is questionable

  • Ha! Been eyeing up the grey dial version, keen to see one in normality.

Also Seiko wise, really wishing I could have got one of these, only just discovered this model, JDM issue obviously!

    Thats what she said...

  • cool watch

    Looks good!

Cant work out the colour. Bronze? Black?

Yeah. Felt the price tag on the bracelet versions and the similarity to the 62MAS modern diver ( I think I mean SPB051) was a bit of a barrier on that one. And you can't get the ltd version for love nor money. So coffee brown on rubber it was!

@ChainBreaker it's very dark brown / borderline black until you get a good bit of light on it then it goes kinda like an espresso shot as above. The bezel is very dark brown / black with cream figures.

  • Lush though.

    Post moar pics.

  • That I can do

  • Good looking watch.

  • Yep, cracking watch, congrats.

  • Seiko did three of these - the grey, a green one, and a rather lovely explorer esque black one (see below) - they were fairly good value at RRP but now go for 2x or even 3x

  • I'm thinking about getting a 70's Tissot Seastar. The seller said it has been serviced in 2017, I don't know anything about vintage watches, does anyone have tips what to look for? (It's this one in silver)

  • Okay the left one is very railmaster and I’m loving it.

  • All I can offer to the conversation is that similar cover from M&S insurance is considerably cheaper than that.

I'll give them a ring, find out what they'd quote.

  • It does have a railmaster vibe you're right. There's a BNIB one on ebay right now - £800 BIN in London. V high considering the specs, but that's the lowest I've seen one go for - shopping in japan have them in stock for just under £1k and they seem to go for a lot more...!

Bit too big IMO - (40x48mm), but otherwise it's rather fetching.

  • Fake gramin starps are actually pretty decent
