The toptube frame hinge on my mate’s Brompton has got quite stiff, it’s an older model. Is it easy enough to drill the pin out, clean up and replace?
Spray it with some GT85 and give it a good workout. It's probably rust and dirt. Wipe it clean and then oil it.
IF that doesn't work only then get the hinge kit. No comment on the replacement process.
You need quite a specific(expensive) tool and it's probably worth just paying your local brompton dealer to do it. Get it done sooner rather than later though, seized pivots left too long are a nightmare to get out
Blasting with spray lube / working thoroughly back and forth then dripping wet lube /working will sort 9/10 of these.
