  • The toptube frame hinge on my mate’s Brompton has got quite stiff, it’s an older model. Is it easy enough to drill the pin out, clean up and replace?

  • Spray it with some GT85 and give it a good workout. It's probably rust and dirt. Wipe it clean and then oil it.

    IF that doesn't work only then get the hinge kit. No comment on the replacement process.

  • You need quite a specific(expensive) tool and it's probably worth just paying your local brompton dealer to do it. Get it done sooner rather than later though, seized pivots left too long are a nightmare to get out

  • Blasting with spray lube / working thoroughly back and forth then dripping wet lube /working will sort 9/10 of these.
