ah you may have 2 different profiles the, instead of using coupler, can just use a reducer https://www.screwfix.com/p/mcalpine-st28m-straight-connector-white-32mm-x-40mm/95260 and then a short bit of 32mm pipe connected to the right angle.
If not 100% sure I would buy a 32 coupler, 40 coupler and a 32 to 40 reducer, covers you for all eventualities!
Ta. Just measured the pipes and the right-angled bit off the u-bend is 32mm but the outlet appears to be 40mm (hard to measure accurately. Am i right in thinking that it's probably 1 1/4"?
The piece upstream from the the u-bend appears to be the bigger diameter too.
