I'm not sure I've seen a 1950s Rolex with a non applied Rolex logo. Doesn't mean its not legit. Just seems a bit unusual.

The numbers looks like a 40s Oyster Raleigh but I thought they didn't even have a Rolex logo at all. But then the hands dont match either.

the tag it's 1961. but yeah, a modicum of research suggests it's very off

And leave a wolf box with some shit quartz in on the bedside table like I do!
Smart taps nose knowingly

And for the midcentury-gold-watch-baller
That is a brilliant suggestion... Im now going to look out for some.

That's enough for me. No matter what, that watch is not from the 60s.
I'd say that's a 1940s to early 1950s Rolex Raleigh dial that has been repainted with a Rolex logo. Rolex did not make watches like that in the 60s.

Massively fake dial. The minute track numerals are done with a font (looks like Gill Sans) and actually stretched/distorted. Completely not right. You'd never see a printers' font used on a watch of that vintage, it would have been hand rendered and the 4s would nearly always have flat tops.

All late 1950s 1960s oyster precision dials I can find have applied Rolex logos too.
How much are they asking btw?

I remember someone having a stunning bur walnut Dunhill one when I was little. The workmanship stayed with me.
My thinking is it would just need a liner / cushions. Other than Dunhills idk who would have made/supplied them - Harold's? Aspinal maybe?

This is an interesting piece regarding repair of cases. Intricate work!

The watch box was sold out so I was given a refund. Must be a sign!

Can you not work on a humador box while in renos? mot like you will make a mess of the place. Make it your own.

The japanese have some of the best quality refinishing that I have seen, including re-enamelling the numerals on the bezel, polishing, mechanism restoration etc.

I like the idea of being able to repair something back to its original state rather than repairing it and having to repolish the whole item.

Ha, thanks. I very nearly gave it a shot at 4pm but then remembered that I am on a strict self imposed luxury goods ban.
If I still love them in 6 months, I'll be able to buy one from their site for a few quid more.
I think Blue is the best dial finish. Any dissenters?
