I really think this highlights the Independent doing a terrible job. If the sentence in question was so obviously antisemetic, I’m really baffled as to why the journalist didn’t call this out with Peak during the interview? Or after the fact, when it came to writing the article - it still wasn’t highlighted as an antisemetic conspiracy theory, instead they linked Amnesty International’s report on Israel US police training and stated that an Israeli police force spokesperson denied the claim. I know if I read that and saw the AI link I’d think it gave credibility to the preceding statement. I’m assuming someone higher up then reads the article before it’s published?
Then only after publishing the article, the Independent removes the Amnesty International link altogether.
Apparently the Labour MP Kate Osborne also tweeted the article along with praise for Maxine Peak. Has she been reprimanded in anyway?

This has been doing the rounds - which was a more credible justification for the action
