I thought they'd just renamed quads.

I really didn't like it but I think you've got to be in the right frame of mind for it & be playing with people that can speak.
For me it had all the bad elements of solos (ie the camping, crouch walking etc...) without the fun of normal BR. But I was stuck with randoms that didn't speak or help in any way.
If you've got loads of time so are up for a slow one & can play with people coordinating your moves & talking to each other I can certainly see the appeal. I'm just getting really fed up of playing with randoms who quit as soon as they get killed so I'm left with a 3or4 vs 1, which would be even worse if I can't see any of the details.

Oh yeah I can't imagine it with solos and folk without mics.
We've played as the same quad for anywhere from 10-20 hrs a week since lockdown began but had essentially lost two people to apathy.
On a chance we gave this a go and found ourselves top 3 for the first 3 attempts. Probably the best part about it is not really knowing how well you're doing and not getting stressed out by it lol. There's always the chance that the sbmm was reset and we're just facing noobs but maybe just the fact we can communicate puts us above the normal quads squads.

Control - loving it.

Looking forward to Burnout Paradise coming down to a reasonable price on the Switch (£45 for a game that's less than £10 on PS4 (£20 on Xbone granted)). Looks great though.

Oh yeah then - if you play with the same people all the time & talk to each other I'm sure it would be good (if still a little slow)!

Having just been down this rabbit hole, it very much depends on what features you want & what your budget is.
I play on PS4 but from what I understand you just need to buy an adapter then any of the wired sets will work with the xbox (if you want wired).
I had a budget of ~150, wanted wired, decent sound quality & a mic. Ended up with some "HyperX Cloud Revolver S" (for ~100) which despite the terrible name are actually really good & I would definitely recommend, though the virtual surround sound won't work with an xbox (I hardly ever use this feature as it's kind of BS on consoles), they're great as a stereo headset.
Some decent brands to look at; HyperX, Astro, Turtle beach, Steel Series, Razor (though I had a pair of their cheap ones and returned them because they were rubbish, the more expensive ones seem quite popular.

As far as I know there isn't any headset that can do both xbox and ps4 wirelessly, because for the ps4 they have to use a usb wireless receiver, which is actually good because it's not bluetooth and therefore no lag, it's the same with PC. But with xbox they can connect directly to the console's rf wireless like the controller does.
However if you don't mind a cable you can just plug a 3.5mm directly into either the xbox or ps4 controller.

The other day I took apart my PS4 and replaced the thermal paste on the CPU/GPU. I've been replaying Monster Hunter and right from the opening menu the fan has been on takeoff mode, now it's barely even audible. It's so quiet now that I was worried I'd broken the fan at first. The thermal paste was a sorry state before, but it's a day 1 PS4 so it's done it's job.

y u not lap the cpu & cooler block too
-
• #22772
What do you mean by the cooler block?
Edit - I just looked up what lapping is, I thought you were using a cool word for "applying thermal paste". I didn't do it cos I didn't know it's a thing, and also cba.
edit 2 - of course that's what lapping is, I remember reading an article about the guys that go around lapping granite engineering surface plates.

my ps4 is very loud (OG white)
how easy is it to do that? considering I am a hamfisted idiot.(previously i have changed a fan in a laptop and didn't kill it, thats my level of skill)
-
• #22774
pretty easy, there's a few stages to get to the CPU but almost all the screws are the same so they're interchangeable apart from a few. You've just got to be careful with unplugging a few wires to not damage them. I followed this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeeINh2v1cw

cheers squire!
will have a watch and order some thermal paste up
Anyone else tried the Realism Battle Royale and found it to be perfect? Less sprinty sprinty, pew pew pew, more caution and survival. I hope this sticks around long term.
