  • Nice, I'd like a rally strap for mine. Can I ask what one that is?

  • Heuerville - https://heuerville.wordpress.com/heuerville-straps/

Mine specifically is the Blackhawk grey nubuck. I think his wait time is 8-10 weeks but they’re really nice if you like that slightly chunkier racing style with a plain edge. The leather is very high quality.

  • We’re always about the Seiko divers here. :)

That’s another great piece, don’t suppose you’ve got a 62MAS in your collection?

I've got a few more classic Seikos but no 62MAS I'm afraid

  • Sounds great, look forward to seeing more.

  • That look like what the Baltic Aquascaphe aimed for.

  • I've had this starp for 8 years now. Still improving with age.

  • Superb service from Magrette, the minute hand on my watch had come loose and just spins around, just after they’d sent it back from a service, and hours after I’d ordered a new strap from them. Parcel from New Zealand this morning, new strap and a new watch! Now the dilemma is blue strap (currently on the broken watch) or orange?

Just for you then, Seiko 0614-5000. I inherited this from my Dad who bought it new in Japan, unfortunately the original strap is long gone.

World's first digital lcd quartz watch and the world's first titanium cased watch too.

  • Ace.

  • A properly interesting watch. How much was it new?

  • Ouch, Ive got a Helson itch, just been on their site,,, ignorant question, When they say 42 mm diameter, very precisely is that the outside dia of the bezel?,, thanks,,

Thanks. Apparently it was about £800 in 1973

One of my most precious watches because it was my Dad's, he looked at the same numbers that I do when I wear it. I have both my Grandfather's watches too, neither is anything special but both priceless, when I wind them it's a physical connection to them doing the same, I look down on the same dial and hands that they did... I can't help but think of them whn I wear them. I'm a sentimental sod.

  • My sister in law had my grandfathers watch serviced and fixed. Looks great on my brother! My other grandfathers rolex is sat in a drawer awaiting similar treatment!

  • Think the green and yellow strap works really well. Ordered a khaki and white and will see what's better.

  • That watch seriously look awesome, very tempted by it!

  • My other grandfathers rolex is sat in a drawer awaiting similar treatment!

Whatever you do, don't send it to Rolex for a service, you'll probably not recognise it when it comes back, they're well known for changing dial, hands etc to have it looking like new and it'll loose any character/charm that it ever had. I can recommend someone if you need it.

  • A new strap for this old thing

  • My younger brothers quartz watch gave up, and he's expressed a wish to own an automatic. I am looking fora non diver, around 40mm automatic watch ideally with hand winding and hacking. Something that can be worn on a bracelet as well as a nato or leather. I am thinking Seiko (SRP703K1 for example) of course, but maybe you guys have other ideas?
Most probably 2nd hand and budget around £100, as it's a first ''real'' watch.

  • SNZG variants can be had close to budget new. No hand winding though but looks good on all sorts of straps.

  • Yes, great suggestion, but he doesn't want a military watch - that's what his quartz was, I should have said.

  • Isn't eight years on a single leather strap kinda unhygienic?

  • I'm on ten with a nato!
