I can recognise this situation and realise how stressful it can get. My suggestion is try to re-home him yourself to a friend, or friend of a friend.
We had a stray end of last year we took in, and he was incompatible with our cat, the more his confidence grew the worse they got with each other.
Woke up one night with him spraying in our bedroom where we had kept him out of for our own cat 😂
We got our own cat (also originally a stray) via a friend of a friend on Facebook, and re-homed the stray last year with one of my colleagues friend.
6 months on and they and he couldn't be happier, we still get updates all the time and the situation is so much better for both cats.
Need some help/advice.
We’ve got two cats in the flat at the moment. One we’ve adopted after fostering her for a few month, the other is a stray we were asked to pick up and look after for a few days by the cat fostering charity.
One month later we’ve still got him. He’s lovely, affectionate and likes lots of attention (he was a stray but hung out in a local florist most of the time). He’s about 10yrs old, pretty chilled and just wants attention and begs for food after being spoilt in the shop.
He is so much better after a month of grooming, decent food, flea treatment and insulin injections. So much so that he’s stronger and wants to explore and roam the flat but the two cats really hate each other and both want to claim territory in the flat. So much so he’s started pissing on a sofa and on the stairs to mark territory.
Unfortunately the foster charity are proving to be a bit useless plus are overwhelmed with cats and people wanting to adopt/foster. Despite promises they are not anywhere closer to finding another foster home that could take him on until he gets adopted.
So we’re stuck. We do keep them separated but feel really bad for him, both cats are stressed and not much we can do.
Any advice other than keep pestering the charity? Tips on keeping them calm? Tried introducing them over time but both get pretty aggro on site of each other.
Feeling a bit desperate, any experienced cat fosterers on here that could take him on for a while until he gets adopted? Lovely cat but this isn’t the right set up for him.
