That is a very pretty fox. Young, presumably?

I've lived with foxes shitting, digging holes, digging up plants, depositing crap in our garden and making screeching noises all night for the last 15 years.
The neighbouring garden is overgrown and most years, a vixen raises a litter there (but they prefer to hang out and shit in our garden). Typically 4 cubs a year. That's a lot of foxes added to the local population of Walthamstow.
At various times I've tried things to deter them from messing up my garden, but as none were particularly effective, I just let them be now. I have to say, if I had the choice, I'd rather live without them but I'm not about to buy my own horse and stupid red jacket.

They do like your garden huh.

I think it's the combination of having a really overgrown area where they can hide and set up home, with a nice sunny lawn next door.
Plus a seemingly endless supply of shoes / towels / clothes / footballs etc from other neighbours who can't seem to get the idea that anything of that type left in the garden overnight is unlikely to be there in the morning.
Also stuff from rubbish bins brought into the garden. Food wrappers / takeaway cartons aplenty; they are not too bad. The worst is the occasional disposable nappy (used). Not for the obvious reason, but because the filling of a disposable nappy, once distributed all over the garden, is very difficult to clear up and doesn't biodegrade.

..they really come to your place to lie in the sun, and 'chill'?

Yep.
Although tbf, they do also frequently chill / sun bathe on the roofs of various sheds; mine and neighbouring ones.

We had this country gent come visit us last week. He looked pretty happy snoozing on our shed, but unfortunately had to be moved on before he spotted the guinea pigs in the garden.
I used to have a family of three that slept on top of my shed roof - you could hear them moving around when inside doing some work.

I nearly ran over a fox on my way back from the velodrome last night (in my car). It dashed out from behind a car and I had to properly swerve! I would have been massively gutted had I hit it.
Stay safe, foxes. -

Fixed.
I'm spending most of my time in Rotherhithe these days, which is a total haven for foxes - not much traffic, plenty of green space, plenty of scavenging opportunities. Can walk the dog right past them without either batting an eyelid (although she will chase and try to play when off the lead).

My brother in law turned around from his desk to see this today.
That vixen has six cubs living at the end of his garden.

Lovely sight. I once came downstairs to find a fox on my sofa. It was Shooters Hill and I'd leave the back door open - they often poked their heads into the kitchen, but that was the only time one came further into the house.
