I’m on the hunt for a new armchair with a footstool. I fully expect to spend weeks searching and then just buy the omnipresent Ikea Poang, but need to try first.
Basically what I’m looking for is somewhere between this:
I like the second one more, but the downside for me is the wooden arms and open sides. So I guess my ideal one is the top one on the base of the second one, and that doesn’t cost more than about £300.
I expect this leaves me with hoping to get lucky on eBay, but would appreciate any other suggestions.
Go for something that allows the maximum variety in your position. Contoured chairs tend to put you in one that is initially comfortable but can degrade quickly, that was my experience with the Ekornes chairs anyway.
I have this problem with an Ercol armchair I have. Sitting in anything other than one position, which is comfortable most of the time, is awkward. This is especially noticeable when I'm really tired and am reclining more, or want to sit at a different angle for whatever reason.
