I’m on the hunt for a new armchair with a footstool. I fully expect to spend weeks searching and then just buy the omnipresent Ikea Poang, but need to try first.
Basically what I’m looking for is somewhere between this:
I like the second one more, but the downside for me is the wooden arms and open sides. So I guess my ideal one is the top one on the base of the second one, and that doesn’t cost more than about £300.
I expect this leaves me with hoping to get lucky on eBay, but would appreciate any other suggestions.
Go for something that allows the maximum variety in your position. Contoured chairs tend to put you in one that is initially comfortable but can degrade quickly, that was my experience with the Ekornes chairs anyway.
I know you said the arms aren't ideal, but the Ikea Ekenäset's basically the same as that Dunelm chair. There's now a matching footstool available; the combo would give you change from £300.
