But... I mean... how??
All seems solid regardless of rust and paint bubbling. Fit Bike Co seat and stem, etc.
Dunno bro. Not sure. Would swap for a different bad idea.

It's now ready to see a skatepark
Does it have a usa bb?

Hmmm not sure, didn’t measure. Looked standard small one-piece so probably. Shoved lube in but didn’t dare disassemble for a full CLA.
Think this needs to go to someone more gnarly than me. Gonna see if anyone on fb classifieds has anything to swap, or else maybe sell it on.
5 minutes on the driveway and I feared for my life.

BMXers
What's a good bike for 10 year olds? A decent BMX that will last them.
Many thanks :-)

How tall?
20" wheels for sure -

I have done a load of cycling with my kids on their bikes, and me on my 20 inch BMX.
The longest ride has been 15 miles with the 7yr old, which was plenty, several 10 miles for the 5 yr olds, and a few 5s on my own round the MTB trail in the Olympic park.

I did London to Brighton on mine some years back. Thinking of doing it again, but on my race bmx with a brake.

Something like a 20" tt.
Avoid 1 piece cranks & quill stems (not sure how obvious this is). I'd always buy 2nd hand myself. -

Something like a 20" tt
Thanks. Can you elaborate a bit? Are there some brands I should look at?
I'm coming from this with zero knowledge of what's what in the world of bmx.

Here's a good start:
https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/348191/#comment15309665Not sure what to say about brands, there are so many good ones. Most of the time it's about how much you put into the riding.
Is this for skate park use mostly?
Or more for getting about?
Would it need a brake? -

I was wondering what the longest distance ridden on a BMX was, someone cycled across Canada on his, I think.
L2B is a good effort though. Chapeau!

One of the regulars in Stockwell skatepark has done the Dunwich Dynamo on a bmx.

Yes, would need a brake.
it's just fun bikes for kids who want to ride around the neighbourhood and (hopefully) learn how to drop off a wall etc.

bearing in mind i need to buy two.

That bike should do the job.
I'd say avoid a gyro cable but I'm not sure any of the bikes with the better cable setup come with a front brake (they should) -
• #744
Ah, see what you mean. Is a front brake essential?
-
• #745
I'd say it's personal choice, but if I were buying for 10yo then I'd start with 2 brakes.

My 16 yr old nephew is on the hunt for a cheap BMX. Has anyone seen anything recently? E17 based, can travel

Thanks, I'll get him to have a look.
And I won't tell your friend of your slip of the tongue!
10" bars are more trendy than laughable these days (even with a top load stem). And if you want to do tricks then short chainstays are your friend.
Cruising, posing and errand running are all fair game, it makes a BMX feel more 'functional'. If I had to only have one bike, it'd be the BMX.
