Does a longer stem slow your steering?
Yes, sort of.

consider the Fabric saddles too, the Line or Scoop may be suitable and they're cheap.
edit- you already said the Scoop. I can't read.

I acquired this from beside a skip further down my road this afternoon. I did ask before I whipped it away. Perfectly straight (622 x 19) and I've replaced a broken spoke. The Shimano chrome identification tape around the drum has faded so I don't know what it is but I'm going with 7 speed with roller brake. Two questions, should I use a short pull lever for the roller brake and will a Shimano indexed shifter work or do I need to acquire a twistgrip style shifter?
Actually thirdly, apart from a Dutch bike, any suggestions on a suitable frame, 700C with horizontal rear dropouts?
Thank you.

Do you rate them?
They're not that expensive, so if they're a good option then I might give it a punt.
I'm particularly sold by their marketing blurb about upright riding, given the handle bar height and lower saddle of the intended bike.

I have a Fabric Line shallow on my track bike. The Line has a channel and the Scoop doesn't, that's the only difference. The Radius shape has a bit more padding at the back than the Shallow to help with a more upright position.
I really like it, full disclosure our team is sponsored by Fabric so we all have one on at least one bike and they're universally liked. Some people dislike them for proper racing positions in the drops and that should be sorted soon with their new Line-S. But for normal rising positions they've somehow made a universally liked shape.

Tester if you want rid of that*, I will definitely take it off your hands. A home for my wheel!
*You did well to hide your contempt for it.

Looking for a 13mm open ended spanner.
Ideally something with narrow tongs, tines, face - whatever you would call the area surrounding the point of grip.
I’ve attached an image of the instructions where said wrench is displayed.
Is there a name for such a tool?

Would the ring/box end of a standard spanner not fit in the recess?

There are specific Alfine /Nexus trigger shifters, they work the other way to normal. Long push with thumb to go up.trigger finger to go down.
You use a chain tensioner with standard dropouts.
You need the correct anti rotation washers for the frame.
Sheldon Brown has the info SJS stock the bits.
I have a Nexus8 on my Dad bike and love it -

@withered_preacher Cheers. Don’t fancy that one with the leather bits on it though..

Unfortunately not, not enough space on the inside.

Split ring spanner may be your best bet.

Would this Wera wrench work?
-
• #102571
I suppose one could cut the leather off if some kind of sharp edge were available...

This looks perfect! Thanks so much.

I was eyeing them up, I’m just not sure it’d fit as the hole is really small. I’ve managed to get it tight enough with some needle nose pliers - at least I hope for now.
It’s a bed and I’m using it tonight so I guess I’ll find out.

Looks like something that should have come with the bed. Nothing in amongst all the packaging?

Will a Brooks saddle spanner fit?
Is there a "what saddle thread"? Search isn't bringing up anything obvious.
Alternatively can someone recommend a cheap black saddle? It's for a dad bike. And will be set at a lower height than normal
Main saddle is a 143mm Romin, so was thinking of a 2nd hand Charge Spoon as it's 145mm wide. PX has a load of San Marcos on sale as well as an out-of-budget-but-cheaper-than-a-Brooks Selle Italia Epoca, so if any of those are recommended it would be useful to know.
Cheers.
